About the author

Nora Calloway

I am not a bank, and I am not a licensed advisor. I am someone who climbed out of debt, built a portfolio from zero, and is now on track to retire financially free.

Along the way I studied the Canadian Securities Course and financial-planning coursework. I did it because there is so much noise online and so little you can trust, and I wanted to learn the same material the professionals learn, from the source, instead of guessing.

Here is what I came to believe. There is no single right answer, and no guru whose path you can simply copy. Everyone's situation is different. Your job is to gather what the good sources actually teach, weigh it honestly, and build the path that works for you. That is the whole point of these stories: not to tell you what to do, but to help you understand the pieces well enough to decide for yourself. Knowledge is power.

How the facts here are checked

Every figure, limit, and rule is looked up from a current, authoritative Canadian source: the Canada Revenue Agency, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, the Bank of Canada, and Statistics Canada, among others. Canadian rules change, so any number that could be stale is dated and re-checked before it is published.

What this is, and is not

This site is educational and informational only. It is not financial, investment, or tax advice, and the author is not a licensed or registered advisor. The stories are here to help you understand how the pieces fit together so you can make your own decisions, or ask sharper questions of a professional who knows your full situation.
